Local Ingredients
BakeAria strives to use as many local and organically grown ingredients as possible. Sometimes due to price or availability, this is not always possible. Please check out the list of suppliers below and support them, too! Keeping your food purchases local helps maintain a stable, local economy, and keeps people employed doing what they do well and enjoy doing.
Eggs:
- Bill and Paula's well-kept and happy hens in Underhill
- Various brand cage-free organic eggs when the local hens don't feel like laying eggs
- Hudak Farm eggs in Swanton
Flours:
- Organic All-Purpose (AP), whole wheat, and bread flours from King Arthur Flour (Norwich, VT) or La Meunerie Milanaise (Qc, Canada)
- Organic Seeds and grains from various sources sold through local stores in Franklin and Chittenden County, Vermont
Fruits, Roots, Spices:
- Rhubarb - from BakeAria's own garden (no pesticides, herbicides, or commercial fertilizer used)
- Candied Ginger - organic ginger root candied by BakeAria
- Wild dried blueberries from Maine and Canada
Dairy:
- Cabot butter and sour cream (Cabot, VT)
- Organic milk and cream
- Stonyfield Farm organic yogurt
